California Native Borders
Recent visitor survey results showed very high community interest in having more California native plants in the gardens. Although native plants will be woven into plantings throughout the gardens, they will be particularly concentrated in the central part of the gardens on both sides of the Meadow. Native plants for these areas will be selected for their suitability for home gardens, drought tolerance, and value for wildlife habitat.

| Many of the original plantings in the central part of the gardens have died out. New native plantings will go under the palm trees and wrap around a sculpture of hands by Donna Billick. |
